SCORPIO LUNAR ECLIPSE

Scorpio is one of the three Water signs and sometimes I say that Scorpio is like the Water sign of Cancer but on steroids. The intuitive and receptive qualities are so acute and so sharp that everything is experienced at a higher level of intensity, especially the things that affect the root and emotional centres. ”Feeling” power and power dynamics is second nature to Scorpio so the implications of relating are profound and the efforts to conceal are mostly self-protective although people often read that as manipulative. Scorpio is a very unconscious sign. It doesn’t lead with the head; it leads with the guts and the groin, and true motivations are often hidden, even from oneself, as one cannot reason with survival instinct.

Everyone wants to be a Scorpio when Halloween comes around. Being edgy and dark is trendy during that time of the year but the rest of the time, people don’t want to deal with the intensity and the implications of what it means to be fully involved in your desires because it doesn’t fit into a neat box and it can be really confronting to face ugly truths.

I’ve been calling the upcoming Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio on May 5th: The Purging of Poisons. It takes place in the middle Decan of Scorpio, which is the most fixated place of the zodiac, the end of the Via Combusta, and relates to the transmutation of toxicity, toxic states and self-destructive tendencies, into power. This is also a South Node Eclipse which is more about letting go and being receptive to the spiritual lessons contained in the darker aspects of your story and what you keep hidden from yourself. There is a need to live life more profoundly now and the things that have gotten in the way, stuck, static, and stagnant are being purged in exchange for a more meaningful ways of being. Trust the process. Don’t resist it. It’s ok to be sad after making the right decision or while moving through a difficult process. The underbelly of life is death, and death is inevitable but there’s power in flow.

“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing,
there is a field. I’ll meet you there.
When the soul lies down in that grass,
the world is too full to talk about.
Ideas, language, even the phrase “each other”
doesn’t make any sense.
The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you.
Don’t go back to sleep.
You must ask for what you really want.
Don’t go back to sleep.
People are going back and forth across the doorsill
where the two worlds touch.
The door is round and open.
Don’t go back to sleep.”

Charivari and Eclipses

In many cultural traditions from the past, there seem to be an important link between sound and eclipses and more extensively, ”evil spirits” and noise making.

The word charivari refers to the derisive cacophony made at night in traditional European cultures. Banging of pans, cauldrons and so on in front of the houses of people suspected of love-making in scandalous, incestuous circumstances. This noise making tactic has been compared to the din made traditionally by people in many parts of the world.

This may also be related to beliefs that a dragon or monster is about to devour the heavenly bodies and to make sufficient noise to discourage the monster of excessive intimacy with the Sun or Moon. Should a celestial monster intervene in the natural cycle of day and night by eating the Full Moon, there is then a danger of a gap opening up the sequence so that unless something is done, darkness would alternate with darkness.

‘’If you say this to me many times, you will observe all things growing dark,
For the curved bulk of the heavens disappears and the stars do not shine;
the light of the Moon is hidden and the Earth does not stand steady.’

Warming up by the fire

The Moon just entered the sign of Leo and will be there until December 29

With the Sun in ambitious and earthy Capricorn, we see our goals and we are willing to work to succeed.  The Moon in Leo can help fuel the creative fires with the supportive trines from Saturn and Uranus. This can add an overall inspiring and beneficial influence. The Moon will also square Venus in Scorpio showing that we might be ruled by unconscious desires at the moment.  If we can tame our spirits and connect to our deeper motivations we can discriminate between the genuine need to surpass ourselves and the more superficial ambitions that are driving us. Overall the next 2 days are very creative and exciting. We can fuel on the passionate and innovative fires and design new structures and new ways of doing things. We can also expect a few philosophical or religious debates around the fireplace since some of us are still in the midst of family reunions and holiday gatherings.

Horitomo- State of Grace

The Moon in Leo person is usually warm-hearted and expressive with their emotions. They can go to great length to spoil the ones they love showering them with gifts and attention.  Leo is a Fixed Fire sign which gives these natives lasting powers and an overall courageous disposition. They are bold, generous and faithful in their passions. It can be difficult for the Moon in Leo people to put down the more brazen persona and show their vulnerable side. They can benefit in learning to discriminate between their social mask and the more private self.

Thank Goddess it’s Venus Day!

Because of the more Cardinal and Mutable elements at work in the astrology of the moment, I haven’t spent much time talking about Venus in Scorpio. Faithful to herself, she has remained present and powerful but only to those who want to access her.

Friday is the day of the Goddess Venus so let’s spend a few minutes looking at Venus in Scorpio.

VENUS ♀

In astrology, Venus symbolizes pleasure, beauty and what we value. What brings us pleasure can vary greatly depending on the person.  For some its money or a beautiful home while others will find joy in a table full of food and good company. She rules over relationships and desires, commitments and marriage.

Venus’s domain is usually a comfortable and harmonious one. The contours are soft and pleasing to the eyes. The air feels good on the skin and there is a faint aroma of flowers in bloom like the breeze on a warm summer night. Venus is irresistibly attractive and confident.

On our quest for pleasure, we must not overlook the fierceness of Venus. The cautionary tale of Paris and the Golden Apple is perhaps a great example of her treacherous qualities. The strategic use of beauty and intelligent charm can be a great assets in social gatherings and even politics but the choices we make under her spell can also be disastrous.

VENUS IN SCORPIO ♏︎-December 4th to December 30th

If you want to know passion, you have to be willing to pass through the fires of hell

Venus in Scorpio craves intimacy. She is not looking for a superficial encounter.  She wants to merge and devour. There is a fatality here that we do not find in the rest of the zodiac. Venus in Scorpio will not be content with a walk in the garden.  She needs to own and transform herself through her encounters. Even though Venus in Scorpio might be extremely secretive her power to seduce runs deep.

Questionable means might be employed to get the object of desire as Venus in Scorpio leave her good manners at the door. This can be an extremely charismatic placement that endows the native with the power to draw to themselves what they want.

December 18 and onward…

Tomorrow on December 19, Venus in Scorpio trine Chiron in Pisces while Pluto the modern ruler of Scorpio conjunct Mercury.  This can be an opportunity to bring healing to our more personal relationships and a desire to connect and relate deeply and truthfully to another . We could feel vulnerable so making sure that conversations happens in a safe space is extremely important.

Venus in Scorpio and Pluto’s territory have to be approach with as much awareness as possible.  This is the instinctual realm. There could be an urge to dominate a situation, a conversation or at its worst a person. Paying attention to power struggles, manipulation and jealousy might prevent the more unpleasant symptoms of these powerful aspects.

With Venus in Scorpio for the rest of the month we are invited to step into the transformational waters of intimacy. In our quest for love, let’s embrace the deep and complex mysteries of others.

Safe journey

NEW MOON IN LEO

NEW MOON IN LEO
(Sun/Moon conjunction@ 21ºof Leo)

My love!
I have been waiting for this moment
since eternity.
My heart, my power, my sovereignty
revel in the grand masquerade.
A playful drama written by the children
of an impetuous king.

Will you find the courage to be loyal
to yourself, your art and your passion?
Rising proudly on the horizon
each day blessing your kingdom
with the light of an open heart.

The Flame Within

Venus is officially disappearing from the sunset glare and has begun her underworld journey to be reborn in the morning sky on the 20th/21st. Venus is the brightest planet and third-brightest sky object overall, after the Sun and Moon. When it’s visible, it’s very prominent in our sky. Venus will pass nearly 8 degrees south of the sun as seen from our earthly perspective on August the 15th (astronomically speaking) at the heart of her retrograde cycle. ”Mythically speaking this is when Venus enters the heart of the sun, the inner chambers of the golden, royal light.”  [1]

If you are blessed with an unobstructed horizon in the direction of sunrise, you will probably see Venus low in the east, about an hour before sunrise, sometime during the last week of August, 2015 where she will regain her place in the morning sky. [2]

Back in the days, the Greeks would call Venus Phospheros (= Bringer of Light) when she appeared just before dawn and Hesperos (= the western one) when she appeared in the evening. The Roman equivalents were Lucifer (= the light bringer) and Vesper (= evening), respectively. [3]

The period when Venus disappears from the evening sky  is best used for inner reflection, release and renewal. Her mythic journey into the underworld is a metaphor to help us go within and recover our lost treasures. An opportunity to retrieve our innermost felt values and qualities and bring them back out into the light so that we can relate better to others and to ourselves. Continuing with the Venus retrograde themes that we have worked on for the last couple of weeks: Our relationship to relationships. Our relationship to ourselves. Our relationship to beauty, love and desires. Reflecting on the many reflections. What we see in the mirror. What we see in each other’s eyes. What we want to see in others versus who they really are.

Have fun with it. It’s been a rough journey and Saturn hasn’t been making it easy for all things Venusian.

After all, Venus is our connection to pleasure.

Divine Rights

The Moon is in Leo for two days…

In Astrology, Leo is associated with royalty, the lion being the ”king of beasts” and throughout history a powerfull symbol of sovereignty and nobility. Leo is a fire sign ruled by the Sun and there is an ambitious and ardent vitality behind their desire to be the voice of reason. The solar sign is imbued with an authority that sometimes can be interpreted as arrogance but it is a natural confidence and nobility of character that motivates the lion.

Loyal friends they will demonstrate their affection in a warm and generous manner. Compliments can get you far with someone who has alot of Leo in their birth chart. Secretly these big kittens revel in being loved and worshipped. Demonstrations of your total submission is one sure way of getting the royal treatment.

Fire is the word of the day with so many planets including the Sun in Aries combine with the Moon in Leo.
