NEW MOON IN GEMINI – MAY 30th, 2022

The mind is a wonderful servant but a terrible master. Energy follows thought, and which we focus on expands. We are all hard wire for this ability. Choose wisely.

Messenger planet Mercury rules over the Gemini New Moon and is still moving retrograde in the sign of Taurus which is helping us revise the ways in which we ground ourselves and embody our physical reality. More extensively, Mercury is ruled by Venus who just entered the sign of Taurus, enabling sensual pleasures to be experienced more readily.

Mercury is currently on Fixed Star Algol aka the Head of Medusa at 26 degrees of Taurus and will station direct here on June 3rd just as Saturn stations retrograde in Aquarius. There may be an underlying tendency towards worry, fear or negative thinking but things are truly not as bad as they seem. This may be a fair warning against losing your mind on something that won’t or can’t be changed atm. You can avoid getting petrified by redirecting your gaze onto the things that are productive for your well being.

What’s happening in the Gemini part of your chart may be possible because of what’s happening in the Taurus part of your chart. You may be preoccupied with building on pre-existing structures or looking for situations which offer you the most opportunities and resources to work with.

There are no planets in Water signs atm which means it could be easier to use common sense to make decisions although there may also be a tendency towards inflexibility or aloofness.

The New Moon offers an almost impeccable clean slate on which to write your intentions thanks to Mars and Jupiter in Aries in a supportive aspect to the New Moon. Take advantage of the mobility currently available to get stuff done and bring progress where there are openings.

Nothing is perfect in this world but your energy investments have a chance of being revitalized, clarified and distilled so that you can better focus on what makes your heart sing.

WEEK OF JUNE 21st – Solstice

This week is marked by a considerable astrological shift with the Sun having just crossed the solstitial threshold into the sign of Cancer, Jupiter turning retrograde in Pisces, Mercury turning direct in Gemini on Tuesday, and the Full Moon culminating in the sign of Capricorn on Thursday.

We finally escaped the grip of the Eclipses that began on May 26th with the Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius and ended with the Solar Eclipse in Gemini on June 10th. These eclipses were highly charged, fast paced, and somewhat stirring depending on your sensitivity level and there was a lot of high tension/nervous energy permeating the first two weeks of June. The Sun transiting in Cancer for the next several weeks should bring a soothing balm for the intellect. We are also on the other side of the 2nd Saturn-Uranus square that took place on June 14th and we can look forward to a few days of respite at least until the end of the month when the next instalment of ‘’tense’’ aspects will occur.

Because this Mercury retrograde in Gemini was powered by the momentum of the 2 Eclipses, you may have felt significant perspective or situational shifts in your personal life whether these were forced upon you or voluntary. You may have been called to priorities and be more selective about your energy investments in order to stay afloat while things shifted rapidly in the black void of the Eclipses. Whether you’ve been coasting this vibe or feeling overwhelmed, you can look forward to a week where you can finally start to slow down and integrate the changes that took place in your mind, in your heart, and in your life recently.

Astrological wisdom tells us that Mercury is on its most delinquent behaviour surrounding the days leading to its stationing. You may have to contend with some Mercurial mayhem, confusion, breakdowns or at its best, some bizarre synchronicitous events. Keep an eye out for answers to come to you through coincidences or unexpected means this week.

The Full Moon culminates at 3º Capricorn on Thursday supported by a sextile from Jupiter in Pisces. Saturn rules the sign of Capricorn and therefore the Full Moon and is currently separating from a square with Uranus highlighting this year’s main tension between the current structures/status quo versus innovation/revolution. You may decide to retract to the safety of your cocoon and your habitual instinctual patterns as the fear of scarcity or the unknown threatens to destabilize your well-being. On the other hand, you may feel ready to shed obsolete patterns and modes of being and courageously step into the fresh butterfly wings that awaits you on the other side of the rainbow.

Realistically though you may actually be oscillating widely between old and new patterns and ways of being in the world.Rest, breath, respect your elders, your body and nature. Status symbols are obsolete, nature is everything. You’ll get where you’re going in due time.

WEEK OF MARCH 11, 2019: REVELATION

“The Portuguese call it saudade: a longing for something so indefinite as to be indefinable.
Love affairs, miseries of life, the way things were, people already dead, those who left and the ocean that tossed them on the shores of a different land
all things born of the soul that can only be felt.”
Anthony De Sa

We are moving through changing tides and this week continues to bring revelations and dreams that fertilizes our future.

The Moon is moving towards her first quarter square and we can feel the building momentum of this highly mutable season. Moving through the end of the zodiac, we take stock of our lives, we dream, we fantasize and we hope as the winds of change are blowing.

Can you feel the stirring under your feet, under the Earth? Can you feel the butterflies awakening a sharp longing within you? Like you have been summoned by an invisible force to push beyond your comfort zone and reach for the sublime. Senses are magnified and the sap that runs through your veins is rushing to awaken you. Possessed by a new vision that will revitalize your spirit, can you hear the distant calling of possibilities?
Uranus is now officially in Taurus until 2025, signalling a totally new awareness being birthed.
 ・
For the next few weeks, Mercury retrograde in Pisces is creating a sort of timeless space that allows us to sit with our new awareness and even maybe, perceive a glimpse of what is to come. Perhaps, this is an unusual way to look at things for some of you, but the month of March can be very fruitful if you are willing to sit with the new emotions that are arising as they are indicators of things to come.
Mercury retrograde in Pisces can also generate confusion or distort what is in front of you, creating fantasy that would not sustain a long exposure to daylight. Dreams are lingering throughout the day and things could feel unclear or even scattered if you are not use to taking detours. The time for stoic commitments and pragmatism will come soon enough. Take advantage of this next week to bask in the romantic glow of your longings, allow yourself to get lost along the way.
Find inspiration in your day-dreaming as this is where the fire is burning right now, but remember that in the end you will need to discriminate between what was mere fantasy and what was vision.

The biggest event this week happens Thursday night at 21:48 EST with Mercury entering the heart of the Sun. Sitting on the Solar throne, Mercury Cazimi offers revelations and clarity. The Cazimi lasts about 2.5 hours either side of the hour and represent the halfway point in Mercury’s retrograde cycle. Since Mercury squares Jupiter at the time of the Cazimi, the revelations and incoming messages might have something to do with fate and the bigger patterns in your life. This small window can offer solution, answers, revelations and incoming messages that can help you especially in matters of the House where Jupiter rules in your chart.

We are moving through deep and important times right now.
Some things have become too heavy to bear. Sacrifices are taking on a whole new meaning. The burdens we have chosen in the past might not be right for us anymore; freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose.

Mercury Guardian of Thresholds

A liminal deity is a god or goddess who presides over thresholds, gates, or doorways; a crosser of boundaries. In roman mythology Mercury is the messenger of the gods and guide of the dead or psychopomp. His Greek equivalent is Hermes who is associated with omens, roads, travellers, border crossings, thievery and merchants. Dual in nature, he is the eternal youth, puer aeternus and the old man senex messenger to the dead. [1] The patron and benefactor of highway bandits, thieves, rogues and liars. He is jester, trickster and magician. He mediates between waking and dreaming, between the underworld and the world of mortals – bringing fateful tidings.

Think twice before you speak
The modern pop-culture interpretation of Mercury retrograde is often one of doom and gloom where anything that goes wrong is blamed on Mercury. Missed connections, delays in travels, breakdown of electronic, mis-communication and objects disappearing are amongst the plethora of beliefs associated with its retrograde. While this is partially true, it is a generalisation that has become the norm. We need to look beyond these minor annoyance to understand where and how the trickster might be playing with us. Studying the sign in which the retrograde will take place helps us diagnose the ways in which a particular Mercury retrograde will manifest.

Mercury Retrograde in Virgo
Mercury in the sign of Virgo is associated with good judgment, intellectual ingenuity, flexibility and the overall ability to analyse and implement things in a practical way. It brings order to chaos by sorting details and making it into a coherent system. Taking to the extreme, Mercury in Virgo becomes, hyper-critical, obsessive-compulsive and nit-picky loosing itself in trivial details. Mercury in Virgo finds its exaltation here and holds rulership by sign which means it is essentially dignified. He also has rulership by face on the last 10 degrees of Virgo (21º-30º) where he will spend a good part of this retrograde. (The retrograde takes place between 14 and 29 degrees of Virgo) Assessing strength and dignity is an important part of analysing how a planet will perform in each sign. Since Mercury in Virgo finds itself in essential dignity and ruling over the last 10º degrees of Virgo the adverse effect of the usual retrograde might be tempered by the fact that Mercury is quite potent here. Without overriding completely the circumstances that a retrograde can cast we might be able to use this time to our advantage.

When wick and oil are clean
A good rule of thumb during a Mercury retrograde is to practice your ”RE”: revise, re-organize, re-tool, re-group, re-think et cetera. Sure it might be more difficult than usual to initiate new projects and travel from point A to point B during a retrograde. But Mercury retrograde in Virgo is a fantastic time to get your various project and ideas in order. Greasing the engine, polishing the silver, cleansing the systems. A good part of the month could be spent analysing what we are doing. Are we being efficient with our attention or are we wasting time focusing on the wrong things? If you do something “right,” but it’s the wrong thing to do, your efforts will be futile. If you do the “right thing,” but you do it wrong, you’ll also fail miserably.

Thoughts could seem very black and white well into September with the Saturn/Neptune square in the background. With Mercury retrograde in Virgo adding to the noise we could feel overwhelmed by responsibilities one moment and extremely focused on our work the next. Do not overload your plate at the risk of driving yourself crazy. But do not abandon your ship either. Rest your nerves when you can and focus on one task at a time. See the process for what it is and listen for the cues. Your attention is currency. Spend it wisely.

as doing with great efficiency,
something that should not be done at all.”

Overview of the Mercury Retrograde in September

August 30 2016: Mercury station retrograde at 29º04′ Virgo at 9:04am (EDT)

September 1, 2016:
New Moon/Solar Eclipse at 9º21′ Virgo at 5:04am (EDT)

The potential of Ordinariness
The eclipse happens two days after Mercury begins its retrograde. Mercury is the guardian of this New Moon and Solar Eclipse.  The fact that Mercury is moving backward is significant. It could be that the events and realisation surrounding this eclipse will be implemented much later into the Fall. A New Moon is a seeding time. A New Moon in Virgo is a good time to set intents around the logistics and systems in our lives and the various process that helps us be efficient. A New Moon in an Earth sign is asking for tangible and realistic goals.

A New Moon AND Solar Eclipse is a powerful reset. If you are born with personal planets between 4 and 14 degrees of the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) this New Moon and eclipse could impact you more strongly. If you have invested your time and energy wisely, this period could open new doors, bring unforseen opportunities, new beginnings or a confirmation that you are on the right path. There could be a tendency to take on a big work load. Discard the superfluous from the essential and divide your time accordingly. As usual with this much Virgo in the sky the feelings of anxiety and inadequacy could creep up. Discard guilty and damaging self-talk, plant the proper thoughts and be present.

Small Pot – Stunted Roots
Jupiter is finishing up a 1 year stay in Virgo and is preparing to move into the sign of Libra on September 9. Realisation around the way we have restrained our growth could surface.  If we have spent too much of our attention finicking over things that stunt our progress it becomes obvious. Anything limiting could surface. Conversely if we have overlooked some important details now is a good time to go over them. Since Jupiter is closely linked to beliefs, spend time reflecting on where and in what you have put your faith. Is it sill relevant for you at this point? Can you see how your beliefs shape your life for the better or for worst? Where is it leading you? On a positive note, there could be some revelations and opportunities that help you see the path ahead.

The Heart’s Chambers
The sequence of aspects on Monday September 12 are very dynamic. First Mercury square Mars in the sign of the fiery archer. This can bring a variety of side effects including more unpleasant ones. There could be volatility in communications and impulsive missives fired. Strong opinions and even zealousness about ones beliefs and firmly held opinions will be flying left and right. A sense of righteousness permeates the day and this can play out on various stages in our lives including our personal relationships. The truth is trying to surface. With Jupiter at 0 degree of Libra and ruling over Mars in Sagittarius, a compromising and diplomatic approach is favoured over impulsiveness.

After its dynamic encounter with Mars in Sagittarius, Mercury conjunct the Sun in Virgo and sits in the Solar throne.  A moment of clarity and perhaps something that had remained hidden from sight is revealed. A door opens briefly and we get a glimpse, a clue, an indication of things to come. Take note.

The Moon will be in Capricorn and Aquarius on September 12 which are both ruled by Saturn. This weaves in the bigger themes of the Saturn/Neptune square that perfects two days prior. We are confronted by our responsibilities vs the cherished ideals that fuel our imagination. What must be done versus how we wish it could be. The well of dreams where our eternal child quenches his thirst versus the reality and limitations of the material world.

Science and Truth are simple phenomenon of nature, but it is the known that is preventing us from mastering the unknown.

Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse at  24º20′ Pisces at 3:05pm (EDT)
The seeds planted at the beginning of the month culminates with the Full Moon in Pisces. Old stories lose their hold and the whispers of the past fade into the void. Don’t be lured back by the haunting calls of the sirens. Short-term gains or pleasure must be weighed carefully against the long-term ones. Bound yourself to the mast of your boat while the Moon passes in the earth’s shadow and looses her light. An era is definitely over and you get the confirmation if you can stand the darkness for a brief moment. If you have personal planets in the last 10 degrees of the Mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) this Full Moon will affect you more significantly.

Secrets Revealed
Integrity and honesty will be wonderful allies for the duration of this Mercury retrograde. Avoidance will bring more trouble than necessary. Honesty begins with oneself and than moves outward into the world. Being true to our convictions can be trying especially when we juggle conflicting beliefs or ideas. We can now see clearly the strict or severe frameworks in which we have been operating. Being at the mercy of conditioning and programming is no longer viable although we need these systems. The truth emerges with its fair share of readjustments.

Mercury station retrograde at 29º of Virgo on August 30th 2016.
You can interpret this Chandra Symbol freely.

Virgo 29*: A witch preparing magic mushrooms

Within the delicate, formative stages of major departures into the unknown, there is encountered an extraordinary task and lesson that detains you a long while. It becomes self-evident that it is everything that comes before that makes the difference. There must be a fully attuned, magical sensibility to make the future possible. Coming to this requires arduous discipline, elaborate ritual and internal initiation. This becomes such a labyrinth of discipleship and apprenticeship that you wander through the maze discovering everything you ever needed to know. All is played out within. There is no need to make anything happen on the outer. You are assigned to empty yourself out, to strip everything away, to become invisible. And if you excel at your craft, so many ventures and initiatives will be seeded, that this inner planes total mobilization will prove to be more fruitful and productive than any premature thrusts of outer mind, no matter how impressive or seemingly necessary. The entire path lies well within, and needs no surface success to substantiate itself.

*For the Chandra degree, I used the 29º instead of 30º my logic being that Mercury is moving backward.

Mercury retrograde: Don’t shoot the messenger

Today, Mercury stations retrograde at 0’ 57 of Aquarius and will be re-tracing the path it took in December until it turns direct again on January 25th.

This could means that we don’t have all the pieces we need to move ahead. We will have to look back to retrieve some important information and perhaps restructure some of our plans. Something needs resolution. We need to back track to move deeper, to heal, to understand. You can try denial but I wouldn’t recommend it. Things will most likely go in an unpredictable fashion and that is part of the revision process. Some things need to die before we can move forward. Wether its a habit, a fear or a cherished illusion. What is the driving force hiding behind your decisions at the moment?

The regular Mercury procedure is: Don’t sign contracts, don’t buy big-ticket items or launch on a new venture.  The potential for confusion, complication or things not turning out as planned seems to be higher during this period. Of course you have free will and of course you can do whatever you want.  This is an ongoing observed phenomenon.

The first aspect that Mercury makes on its way backward, is a square to Mars in Scorpio. Mars doesn’t back track, it moves forward. What does it mean?

We can speculate.

Mars in Scorpio wants to zoom in on what most don’t want to show. It identifies the weaknesses to annihilate or heal depending on the level of awareness. This means that we have an arsenal of truth serum at our disposal and it needs to be handled with care for the sake of peace and integration.

Mars wants to act but Scorpio doesn’t tell so Mars in Scorpio is almost always about acting undercover without showing intentions. Mars in Scorpio has hidden motivations. Mercury the messenger, connects us to one another. It is Mercury’s job to tell. This could be like an undercover mission gone public, a cover up exposed, an ambitious executioner, a politician who tells the truth. It can cause ravages or it can bring us to the next level.

IMGP8677

Without proper considerations this aspect could see us pulling dirty tricks to win a race that is driven by our insecurities. Mars in Scorpio cuts through the thin veil of chatter to get to the core of the issue. Special attention to dialogues, exchanges and negociations in the next few days as the potential for misunderstanding or hurts to surface is very possible.

You might find me overly prescriptive to start the year but knowledge allows us to move with awareness through the battle fields.

Good luck!

Mercury retrograde in Libra: The Blindfold, the Heart and the Scales

In order to understand Mercury in Libra and what the retrograde might bring up, let’s look at Libra for a moment.

Libra is the 7th sign of the Zodiac and is often depicted as the scales of justice. A cardinal air sign, masculine or yang means that this sign is active and initiating in comparison to the feminine signs that are more receptive and passive.

From an evolutionary point of view, Libra is associated with the integration of the individual through relationships. The first flames of the egoic self (Aries) has developed to a stage where it is ready to step outside of its immediate needs to accommodate another person.

Libra thinks (Air) in terms of polarities meaning that to understand itself, the individual requires  external feedback. Relationships becomes a central piece that holds the identity together. Feedback becomes a building block for the ego. Libra will accommodate the other since the other is needed to develop self-understanding.

Venus, the planet associated with love and beauty rules the sign of Libra which certainly helps this sign relating and establishing partnerships. There is a strong connection to symmetry, harmony, how things should be and in its more superficial manifestations it becomes how things should look.

The scales measures and weighs to find fairness and equilibrium. The middle ground between me and you, between us and them. The decision making process becomes a lengthy affair.

Heart & Mind

One would think that being so preoccupied with balance makes Libra well calibrated but going from one extreme to another is essential in finding the middle path.

Why is Justice blindfolded?

The depiction of justice balancing the scales dates back to the Goddess Isis of ancient Egypt. She is often seen carrying a double-edged sword in her right hand, symbolizing the power of reason and justice, which may be wielded either for or against any party. Justice is also depicted wearing a blindfold representing objectivity. Justice is or should be met objectively without fear or favour, regardless of money, wealth, power, or identity.

Mercury retrograde in Libra

Mercury is associated with the mind and our reasoning capabilities. The ability to speak and share our experience. Communicating and connecting two separate entities, language allows us to close the gap.

Mercury in Libra has a lot to do with feedback. Time is spent in a back and forth dialogue smoothing things over and making sure the other person received correctly what we are trying to convey. A diplomatic mission.

When Mercury goes retrograde, it is thought to be a time of revision. In Libra the mind turns towards the other. What connects you to another person and how the other person receives you.
Re-calibrating our message so that we can be better understood within our relationships. We already spent a good part of the summer revising our needs within our relationships with Venus retrograde in Leo.  The Venus retrograde helped us identify our hearts desires. With Mercury going retrograde in Libra, it could mean a time of measuring how our relationships are bringing us (or not) what our heart desires. Having our needs recognized by someone else means being able to communicate them clearly. It could also be about rationalizing our desires and the push and pull between reason and the heart.

Relationships are a balancing act. We can never take them for granted. And we can never take for granted that the other understands us. When we involve ourselves with another human, we take a chance.  We take a chance at being misunderstood but we also take a chance at being understood.  And that is one of the most rewarding side effect of being willing to team up. No one is an island.

The story continues.

On a collective level, Mercury retrograde in Libra points it swords towards the injustice of the world. Equal rights for man and woman, equal rights for people of all nations. The discomfort is growing everyday as we become aware through social media of the huge gap between rich and poor, between rich countries and third world nations. Our selfish ways are highlighted and it is quite embarrassing. The Syrian refugee crisis is one of many dialogue going on at the moment.  What differentiate you from them? Why is it that you are sitting in your comfortable life watching on a screen thousands of people fighting for the lives? And how are your decisions affecting these injustice and imbalance? Are we rationalizing tragedies to the point of becoming morbidly aloof?

two-polish-jews-rich-and-poor-1

When our attention turns towards fairness and justice, the inequalities are striking. Our societies have built so many laws in order to keep the peace. The corridors of bureaucracy are rotting and the system that is supposed to serve us have become an intricate way to avoid direct responsibility. Our objectivity and impassive posture towards injustice is becoming our downfall. We can apply those same ideas to our personal relationships.
Perhaps the blindfold of objective reason has become a weakness?
