MERCURY CAZIMI IN CANCER

Messenger planet Mercury is currently transiting in the last decan of Cancer and comes into a superior conjunction with the Sun today at 15:37pm EST.

This brief moment is known as a ‘’Cazimi’’ (from the Arabic word kasmimi) when a planet is said to be ‘’in the heart of the Sun’’ or within 16’ of longitude (16 arc minutes) from the Sun and is thought to bring illumination or clarity as Mercury speaks from the solar throne.

Since this conjunction is taking place in the sign of Cancer, the realization that come to you at this time may have an emotional/intuitive/creative/fertile undertow and have to do with what you need to feel nourished and wealthy on an emotional/spiritual/physiological/environmental but also collective level not only to survive but also to THRIVE.

Patterns of stagnation that relates to your emotional wellbeing are offered opportunities to flow now as stale fixated ways are dislodged.

Things that happened to you in-utero or when you were a small child still informs your ways of being in the world and this is some of what the Moon-ruled sign of Cancer relates to.

This brief aspect will have different degrees of importance and meaning depending on where Cancer is located in your birth chart and if you have any planets on the Cardinal axis (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn)

You can also look to where the Moon is located in your chart and the aspects it receives from other planets to gain a greater understanding of the ways in which you may have experienced nurturing as a child and the ways you go about fulfilling your needs.

There are no good or bad Moon signs fyi. The symbols in the birth charts represents dynamics at play and I have seen thriving Scorpio Moons and emotionally dysfunctional Cancer Moons. We are moving through changing tides and this week continues to bring revelations and dreams that fertilizes our future.

The Moon is moving towards her first quarter square and we can feel the building momentum of this highly mutable season. Moving through the end of the zodiac, we take stock of our lives, we dream, we fantasize and we hope as the winds of change are blowing.

Can you feel the stirring under your feet, under the Earth? Can you feel the butterflies awakening a sharp longing within you? Like you have been summoned by an invisible force to push beyond your comfort zone and reach for the sublime. Senses are magnified and the sap that runs through your veins is rushing to awaken you. For the next few weeks, Mercury retrograde in Pisces is creating a sort of timeless space that allows us to sit with our new awareness and even maybe, perceive a glimpse of what is to come. Perhaps, this is an unusual way to look at things for some of you, but the month of March can be very fruitful if you are willing to sit with the new emotions that are arising as they are indicators of things to come.

Mercury retrograde in Pisces can also generate confusion or distort what is in front of you, creating fantasy that would not sustain a long exposure to daylight. Dreams are lingering throughout the day and things could feel unclear or even scattered if you are not use to taking detours. The time for stoic commitments and pragmatism will come soon enough. Take advantage of this next week to bask in the romantic glow of your longings, allow yourself to get lost along the way.

Find inspiration in your day-dreaming as this is where the fire is burning right now, but remember that in the end you will need to discriminate between what was mere fantasy and what was vision.

The biggest event this week happens Thursday night at 21:48 EST with Mercury entering the heart of the Sun. Sitting on the Solar throne, Mercury Cazimi offers revelations and clarity. The Cazimi lasts about 2.5 hours either side of the hour and represent the halfway point in Mercury’s retrograde cycle. Since Mercury squares Jupiter at the time of the Cazimi, the revelations and incoming messages might have something to do with fate and the bigger patterns in your life. This small window can offer solution, answers, revelations and incoming messages that can help you especially in matters of the House where Jupiter rules in your chart.

We are moving through deep and important times right now.
Some things have become too heavy to bear. Sacrifices are taking on a whole new meaning. The burdens we have chosen in the past might not be right for us anymore; freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose.

Mercury will pass very close to the Sun in the sky as its orbit carries it around the far side of the solar system from the Earth. If a planet is right at the core of the Sun, then it is utterly consumed and this is called being ‘cazimi’. Mercury going into the heart of the Sun means that for a small window of time Mercury is super powered while sitting on the royal throne.

Mercury briefly strengthened by its union with the Solar principle, gives us an opportunity to unite mind and spirit. Our thoughts can be purified, clarified and renewed in the Solar forge.

Mercury and the Sun together in Libra could give us insights as to where things might have gotten unbalanced, unfair, unjust and, the solutions needed to rectify the scales.

The Sun in Libra is considered in its ”fall” and pretty weak. It’s also the time of the year when things are dying as opposed to coming to life. With Mercury conjunct the Sun today I imagine realization and clarity will tend to be more around endings, death and decay as oppose to new beginnings and there is a definite liminal quality to this time of the year.

Mercury and the Sun will also square Pluto at the moment of their conjunction. This means that the unusual clarity we receive today could be combined with the urge to tear down and transform some of the existing structures in our lives.

Do not expect today’s sharpness to be long-lasting. The lucidity that comes with the Sun/Mercury conjunction will quickly vanish once Mercury leaves the Solar throne. Then, the real work of implementing what was revealed begins.

There is a long and arduous road ahead, but today’s answers can be kept in your mind’s eye to illuminate the path.

The sequence of aspects on Monday September 12 are very dynamic. First Mercury square Mars in the sign of the fiery archer. This can bring a variety of side effects including more unpleasant ones. There could be volatility in communications and impulsive missives fired. Strong opinions and even zealousness about ones beliefs and firmly held opinions will be flying left and right. A sense of righteousness permeates the day and this can play out on various stages in our lives including our personal relationships. The truth is trying to surface. With Jupiter at 0 degree of Libra and ruling over Mars in Sagittarius, a compromising and diplomatic approach is favoured over impulsiveness.  It’s an excellent day to tackle projects that require a lot of efforts and stay on course if you can.

After its dynamic encounter with Mars in Sagittarius, Mercury conjunct the Sun in Virgo and sits in the Solar throne. A moment of clarity and perhaps something that had remained hidden from sight is revealed. A door opens briefly and we get a glimpse, a clue, an indication of things to come. Take note. Much can be accomplished and there is a good dose of intuition available if you are in a creative field.
