“I see that I’ve become a really bad correspondent. It’s not that I don’t think of you.
You come into my thoughts often. But when you do it appears to me that I owe you a particularly grand letter. And so you end in the “warehouse of good intentions”:
“Can’t do it now.” “Then put it on hold.” This is one’s strategy for coping with old age,
and with death–because one can’t die with so many obligations in storage.
Our clever species, so fertile and resourceful in denying its weaknesses.”

The week begins with the Sun in Virgo and the Moon void of course in Libra until it enters Scorpio late Monday evening. Monday is a (parenthesis) before the week officially begins and an opportunity to sharpen our tools for the work that lays ahead of us. A necessary period of inner refinement, adjusting our compass and vision as we find ourselves oscillating between our instinctual-desire-nature and our rational-pragmatic-intellect.

Constructive actions in tandem with inspired insights permeates this week. There is a lot of juicy momentum and it could even feel as if things are moving waaaay too fast for you to catch a break. Productivity is high on the list right now, and as a result procrastination hangs like a shadow over our game plan.

The soul craves synthesis while the mind dissects every aspects of existence.

The Moon will travel in Scorpio until late Wednesday night/early Thursday morning when it enters Sagittarius. The Moon in Sagittarius all day Thursday (Jupiter’s day) applies to a conjunction with Jupiter. The First Quarter Moon happens at 13º Sagittarius this month when it squares the Sun at 13º Virgo.

The First Quarter Moon is a time of action or crisis when the plans that were laid at the New Moon in Virgo on the 30th of August are being challenged or are starting to gain traction. This First Quarter Moon brings attention to our big idea or vision and the execution of this particular vision or idea. We have to trust that we will get there but we also have to put in the efforts required to get there.

Perspective gets lost when we spend too much time on the details (Virgo). However it can also be hard to execute a big idea if we don’t delineate a practical way to get there (Sagittarius). You could feel overwhelmed by the amount of preparation necessary for the execution of your idea/goal, losing perspective on where you were going it in the first place. Or it could be that you are so taken by your big project that you totally brush over the details and neglect some important steps in the process.

The Moon in Sagittarius will be next to Jupiter at the time of the First Quarter Moon on Friday September 7th – giving us a huge boost of confidence and faith that ”everything will turn alright”. We KNOW what we have to do, but it doesn’t mean we have the discipline to do it. It’s one thing to know, it’s another thing entirely to repeat the process day after day to install a new routine, a new program that will lead us to a new helpful habit. There is a conflict between knowing and executing, between an idea and the implementation of that idea into a tangible process. Time and patience is required as nothing is born overnight and it’s a good idea to keep that in mind as you navigate Virgo season and find yourself going over everything that remains to be done. Be patient and be happy for the process, because every step of the process is what eventually leads you to the desired result.

The Moon enters Capricorn Saturday morning, and here we are again, back at the working bench, at the drawing table with our plans and our to-do lists, and the burden of all that remains to be done. Time is slipping away so fast, and there are still too many details to deal with. We are not quite as healthy, productive, efficient, and successful as we could be, and it could all be too obvious next weekend. The Moon travels in Capricorn next Saturday and Sunday, convincing us that there are vegetables to harvest and preserve, fire wood to split, renovations to do, and all kinds of work left to be done. Not the most relaxing weekend but a productive one I hope.

Most planets traveling in the Earth element (Taurus – Virgo – Capricorn)  means it’s a great time to get stuff done, but terrible for anxiety around status, work, income, discipline, and habits. Don’t compare yourself too much. You are exactly where you are suppose to be; trust your process.

“You have to believe. Otherwise, it will never happen.”

JULY 2019 – ECLIPSE SEASON + MERCURY RETRO

“Ancestors or Poem”

July will see 3 major astrological happenings mainly: Mercury retrograde in Leo/Cancer and, two eclipses in Cancer/Capricorn.

Art by Tomislav Jagnjic

MERCURY RETROGRADE

Mercury will station retrograde in Leo on July 7th and move back into the sign of Cancer on July 19th. Mercury stations direct on July 31st. This means that we have to contend with Mercury retrograde for the whole month of July.

Simply knowing this will make it a lot easier already. Rule of thumbs during Mercury retrogrades are: No major purchases, commitments and signing contracts if possible, but if you have to, don’t sweat it, it’s meant to be that way. Lay low if you can, and wait until August for major decisions or commitments. On a mundane level, the news will probably be far more fear-inducing than usual so if you can unplug for the month, do it!

THE NEW AND FULL MOON IN JULY WILL BE ECLIPSES

The New Moon in Cancer on July 2nd is a total solar eclipse and the Full Moon in Capricorn on July 19th is a partial lunar eclipse.

Eclipse season is a time of change and movement which often contains unforeseen elements. It’s not necessarily negative or positive but eclipses are associated with new elements being introduced in the picture while other ones are being removed. These can range from small to major occurrences. Not everyone will be affected the same way, and it really depends on your birth chart. Look at where Cancer and Capricorn sits in your chart.

People who have the Sun/Moon or their Ascendant(rising sign) in Cancer or Capricorn will be the ones handling this astrological weather the most in July.

The time between eclipses, is considered a liminal space. If you add the Mercury retrograde to the mix, July and especially mid-July is not a super good time to make major decisions as it will be more of a transitional space with some back and forth re-visiting/re-shaping/re-questioning and all the *re* associated with Mercury retrograde.

All this heavy lifting happening on the Cancer-Capricorn axis (this year) and in July is bringing some understanding in regards to the structures in our lives and how they sustain us, or fail to do so. There is a lot of anxiety and fears associated with security, nourishment, the ecological crisis (our mother Gaia who sustains us (Cancer), and how the system (Capricorn) is failing us. On a personal level, people are working on healing themselves through understanding generational trauma, doing ancestral work and getting at the roots of some of their emotions.

Time and time management is also on the radar and we are super aware of where and who is waisting our time. We are de-constructing the structures that are not sustaining/nourishing/supportive. Before we are able to build stronger foundations, we have to deal with a lot of garbage and darkness personally but also on a societal level. Ultimately, I think this process also brings genuine healing and connections to our roots, our deep past but also closer to our tribe within and without.

WEEK OF MAY 6, 2019 : ELECTRICAL BUZZING

The Moon is in Gemini to begin the week and the ruler of Gemini: ☿Mercury☿, enters Taurus later today and will conjunct Uranus in Taurus by Wednesday.⚡️

☿-Mercury influences communication (written-spoken), ideas, and the overall translation of the intellect into words. Mercury entering Taurus means that our thoughts will turn towards the more practical side of our lives with an emphasis on the material resources we have at our disposition. Planning, engineering, and accounting are some things that Mercury in Taurus is good at. Mercury will be in Taurus until May 21st.

♅-Uranus is sometime described as the higher octave of Mercury. Uranus amongst other things, is associated with the future and innovation. It’s the stroke of genius, the lighting bolt, the eureka moment.

The Mercury-Uranus conjunction is a big vibe this week. It’s rut-busting, innovative but grounded and practical all at once. This aspect could translate in a million different ways but you can expect a buzzing or febrility in the air like you are on the verge of a big discovery.

Magic, synchronicity and new ideas abound for those who are attuned to it.

Mars in Gemini is still in a tight opposition with Jupiter in Sagittarius and this could translate into energy and mind power, especially while the Moon travels in Gemini Monday and Tuesday. At its worst, this aspect can translate into over-confidence, arrogance or impulsivity.

The Moon enters Cancer Wednesday morning and moves into Leo Friday morning until Sunday afternoon when she enters Virgo.

We also have Venus in Aries squaring Saturn in Capricorn on Tuesday, Venus in Aries trining Jupiter in Sagittarius Thursday afternoon and squaring Pluto in Capricorn late Thursday night. That is a lot of Venus action for the week and Venus in Aries is currently ruling the planets in Taurus.

Money and relational matters could be shifting or needing readjustment. It’s a good time to delineate clear boundaries and manage your time. Venus in Aries favour doing it by yourself as oppose to waiting for someone to come along. The mood is sort of ruthless in that regard. Focus on your advancement and don’t waste too much of your time on dodgy, slippery scenarios or people as patience could be lacking.

It’s an excellent week to continue investing your time and energy in advancing yourself, your projects and whatever else you are working on since a lot of progress can be made. Don’t shy away from the hard work. It’s an overall creative and productive time.

SATURN Rx in CAPRICORN: A SPIRITUAL PURGE

Remedios-Varo-Ancestors-or-Poem
“Ancestors or Poem” Remedios Varo

”When we heal ourselves, we heal the past, the present, and the future.
Steven D. Farmer, Healing Ancestral Karma

Saturn is sitting at 20º of Capricorn and is just about to turn retrograde until September 18, 2019. Saturn is also currently conjoined with the South Node of the Moon and will continue to work closely with the Tail end of the Dragon creating a sort of ”purging vortex”.

Saturn turning retrograde this week will surely create more awareness of the limits you have to contend with, your burdens, and maybe even a sense of scarcity or a lack of something whether this is material or emotional. The South Node of the Moon represents a point of saturation and more extensively a point of spiritualization where things which have reached this point of saturation can finally expire and return to the void.

Saturn in Capricorn is the limitations contained within our ambitions.

At the core, Saturn conjunct the South Node brings us face to face with our own mortality and the ephemeral nature of material reality. This in turn can create a lot of anxiety and fears around your body, your health, aging, your financial situation or social status, control and the lack of control, the dire state of our ecosystem, our political system, and a general sense of uneasiness with the physical and the material world. This is an opportunity to get to the roots of some of the reasons you do what you do, and open a dialogue with letting go and more extensively with your own mortality.

This aspect is part of a larger pattern taking us late into the year 2020. We are undergoing massive structural shifts, and this will be translated by a lucid awareness of what is not sustainable. Saturn conjunct the South Node can also give us insights into what is corrupted, what is rotting away, where there is sickness and the need to really purge the excess and simplify whether this is related to the material, emotional or spiritual.

Saturn retrograde for the next 4.5 months will colour the threads we hold in our hands perhaps requiring us to untangle them before we can continue weaving the patterns in our lives. In the long run, this is not a negative process even though it is asking us to face some darkness and dissatisfaction on a personal and societal level right now.

EMERGENCE

EMERGENCE. Sculpture by Buddy Jackson. Hartman Park

The Sun entered Virgo a week ago and we can already feel the beneficial and grounding influence of this Earth sign after a VERY intense retrograde/eclipse Summer season.

We also have a trine between Saturn in Capricorn and Uranus in Taurus right now and this is an aspect that will permeate much of September. Trines in astrology are considered supportive aspects between planets in the SAME ELEMENT. In order to benefit from trines, one must be willing to actively take part and to consciously work with it. In other words, you don’t sit on your ass and wait for things to happen.

Saturn entered Capricorn in December of 2017 and will be there for another 2 years: Saturn in Capricorn is all about the tearing down of old structures that are not sustainable anymore. (on a personal level but also a collective one). It’s also about time management – meaning you don’t waste it on people and scenarios that do not support you. Saturn in Capricorn is your opportunity to simplify your life, be pragmatic about your trajectory, and invest where it’s worth it.

Uranus will be in Taurus for the next 8 years (with a short stint back into Aries at the end of this year but officially back in Taurus in March 2019). Uranus in Taurus will most likely bring many disruptions on a societal level. Uranus is associated with rebellions and change. Taurus is a Fixed Earth sign and so we will most likely see more and more ecological crisis. On a personal level, Uranus in Taurus is your opportunity to revolutionize the way you relate to your comfort and the way you manage your resources and energy. Flexibility will be a major asset in the next 8 years.

Uranus in Taurus will see more and more people interested in self-sufficiency and a return to DIY ways of living as the Earth continues to be damaged by the crumbling and unsustainable systems of consumer culture.

You might start to get a hint of what it is that you want for your future, and perhaps even the opportunity to start moving in a new direction. Simplicity, flexibility and health IS the new wealth.

With the Sun in Virgo for half of September, it’s an excellent time to implement or get back to healthier habits. The Moon is in Aries and will enter Taurus (the sign of her exaltation) later tonight and will be there for the next few days. This is your cue to root down in your body, go into nature and move with your natural rhythms.

September is the recovery phase after a stressful and powerful Summer battle. Take this opportunity to get back to basics and reconnect with your medicine.

NEW MOON IN AQUARIUS: Revolving Doors

Do what he will, he [the profane man] is an inheritor. He cannot utterly abolish his past, since he himself is a product of his past. He forms himself by a series of denials and refusals, but he continues to be haunted by the realities that he has refused and denied.
― Mircea Eliade

The second of two eclipses this month comes with the New Moon in Aquarius on February 15 at 4:05pm ET.

It takes place at 27º of Aquarius, only a few days before the Sun’s ingress into the Water sign of Pisces. This partial eclipse is near the Dragon’s Tail aka the South Node of the Moon which is in part connected to a dissolution process.

In the last few weeks, Venus, Mercury and the Sun all met with the South Node of the Moon. This had the effect of dredging up all sorts of gunk from the bottom of our psyche which is ready to be cleansed and expelled back into the void.

“There is a face beneath this mask, but it isn’t me.
I’m no more that face than I am the muscles beneath it, or the bones beneath that.”
― Steve Moore, V for Vendetta

Aquarius is a Fixed Air sign traditionally ruled by Saturn. The purifying Waters of the water bearer cleanse the heart and clarifies the mind. Since the beginning of February, residues from past emotional burdens have been floating around on the surface of our awareness like dead skin on the surface of water. The dim light of the Sun in the sign of Aquarius allowed for a sort of detachment in regards to these afflictions, and perhaps the ability to find rational solutions for twisted emotional conundrums. The rays of the Sun are pale in the midst of Winter, and illumination comes from within.

The Full Moon in Leo on January 31st, served to highlight what weighs heavy on our heart but also connected us to our heart’s longing. The New Moon in Aquarius on February 15, stirs in us the potentialities of ideas born from these longings which in turn conjures new creative impulses deep inside of us. We can imagine a new trajectory for ourselves; will we have the courage to follow through?

Although still in their abstract forms, we can intuit the shape of things to come. New seeds are now being planted in foreign soil as we gaze on the vast territories of future promises. We must accept estrangement and embrace this liminal space for the time being as we fuel on the creative fires. The eclipses on the Leo/Aquarius axis ask that we have the courage of our ideals and the willingness to break our own rules in order to reach them. Nothing new is born in conformity and we must depart from the known if we are to realize what our heart longs for. We must also be willing to walk away from our love of approval and this is perhaps the most difficult task.

Unbelonging looms large in the uncharted Aquarian world, and seeking ”likes” and acknowledgment will only lead to disappointment. The resolute heart must find support within himself.

At the time of the New Moon, Saturn, the traditional ruler of Aquarius sextiles Venus in Pisces. This aspect speaks of calibrating our desires in a realistic framework, finding the sweet spot within our limitations and perhaps, the right measure of inspiration and work. Saturn in its home sign of Capricorn and Venus in the sign of her exaltation, dispense the proper tools for those who know how to utilize them. This aspect is also about maturity within our relationship and the realistic appraisal of our desire nature.

At the time of the New Moon, Uranus, the modern ruler of Aquarius sextiles Mercury in Aquarius.  This aspect speaks of an urge to break away from limiting through patterns and complicated situations/emotions that limits our vision. Mercury in Aquarius still squaring Jupiter in Scorpio is all about the honest appraisal of these complicated situations/emotions and perhaps unacknowledged desires that could be holding us back from truly breaking free from restrictions.

We must first clean out our basement before we can totally move out. Mars in Sagittarius applying to square Neptune in Pisces at the time of the New Moon, promises to blur and confuse this process. Ensuring that we are aiming at the proper target requires an honest assessment of the motivations hiding behind our arrows. Clarifying our intent is half the battle and our ability to differentiate the ideal from the real will take us a bit closer to the realization of our vision for the future.

VENUS IN PISCES ♀♓︎

Venus enters Pisces, the sign of her exaltation from February 10 until March 6.

Venus is considered exalted in the sign of Pisces and Venusian matters like love, music, art, beauty, money, pleasure and attraction have an easier time expressing themselves when she travels here.

We might crave ease and comfort during her month-long transit in Pisces, and this is possible if we heed the lessons of Saturn currently in its home sign of Capricorn. Nothing is free in this world and pleasure is to be found in maturity and pragmatism this year. Venus in Pisces contemplates eternity while Saturn in Capricorn looks for a solid framework.

Venus also applies to square with Mars in Sagittarius for most of February; you might have to adjust your vision, and be prepared to have your faith tested while you reach for the gold.

Applying a stoic perspective to our longings can help us succeed. A healthy dose of desire and the willingness to put in a sincere effort can lead to the success of our endeavours.

This month-long transit of Venus through Pisces supports our ability to find joy and beauty, while the sextile from Saturn can teach us how to sustain these states in the long run.
