NEW MOON IN GEMINI – MAY 30th, 2022

Messenger planet Mercury rules over the Gemini New Moon and is still moving retrograde in the sign of Taurus which is helping us revise the ways in which we ground ourselves and embody our physical reality. More extensively, Mercury is ruled by Venus who just entered the sign of Taurus, enabling sensual pleasures to be experienced more readily.

Mercury is currently on Fixed Star Algol aka the Head of Medusa at 26 degrees of Taurus and will station direct here on June 3rd just as Saturn stations retrograde in Aquarius. There may be an underlying tendency towards worry, fear or negative thinking but things are truly not as bad as they seem. NEW MOON IN CAPRICORN

The New Moon in Capricorn arrives late on Tuesday night in a conjunction with Pluto. Not only is a New Moon a time of renewal and of rich dark tilled soil, Pluto is a planet often associated with rebirth and transformation. The deep cathartic changes brought by Pluto are usually pretty painful and often not by choice. Changes brought by Pluto are slow and far reaching. There cannot be renewal without death and fundamentally when we enter the realm of Pluto we are never far from the process of decay and death which feels unfair, unjustified, difficult and mostly outside of our control. (Ask anyone who has experienced a Pluto transit)

Pluto is a slow moving outer planet which means its influence slow, and is a generational and collective one before being a personal one. The sign of Capricorn has received a lot of attention in the last few years with Saturn transiting here along with the eclipses taking place on the Capricorn/Cancer axis. Last year began with an epochal conjunction of Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn which occurred on January 13th, 2020 at 22 degrees of Capricorn – one degree away from the New Moon in Capricorn coming up tomorrow exactly a year after the powerful conjunction of Saturn and Pluto. Capricorn is often compared to the systems and hierarchical structure of societies. I could spell it out for you but its becoming increasingly clear to everyone that we are currently undergoing very big societal changes that will be far reaching.

On a personal level you can look at where Capricorn sits in your chart to understand where something new is ready to emerge from the ashes of an old way of being. The month of July ends with a New Moon in Leo which will be exact at 23:12 EDT on July 31st. A few minutes later, Mercury stations direct in Cancer after being retrograde since the 7th of July. The New Moon in Leo and Mercury direct initiates us into the month of August, on the other side of eclipse season and in the bright light of the Sun who is at home in the sign of Leo.

The Full Moon in Aquarius takes place on August 14, just as Venus in Leo reaches her superior conjunction moving behind the Sun. This marks the time when Venus transition from the morning to evening sky. Venus will be visible as a bright evening “star” in the sky after sunset in September and October 2019.

The Full Moon in Aquarius brings a culmination in regards to our own needs and desires versus the desires of the whole. Certain people might be accused of selfishness during this time as we try to reconcile our values with the values of others. This week, we have Mercury stationing retrograde on Tuesday at  1:17pm EST. Mercury is retrograde for most of the month of March and even though there is no need to freak out about Mercury retrograde periods (since it happens 3 times a year), this one will be particularly ”foggy” as it is happening in Pisces (the sign of Mercury’s detriment) and Neptune will be quite active all month. Chances of missing important details increases and so are the chances of getting distracted. This month will be excellent for creative flow without too many rigid structures.

Wednesday, Uranus officially enters the sign of Taurus signalling a new era of technology, innovations, and breaking away from the status quo. Think back on how far you have come since 2011 to now (the time it took Uranus to travel through the sign of Aries) and how in may ways, you are starting a new chapter that is taking you further and further away from the person you were 8 years ago. Uranus ingress into an Earth sign can also bring some surprises this week; expect the unexpected.

Wednesday afternoon, a New Moon in Pisces will conjunct Neptune. This week is filled with impression and hunches as we get lured by half conscious visions of our hopes for the future. A New Moon signals the beginning of the Lunar Month. The seeds and intentions planted at this time will become visible around the Full Moon in Libra on the 21st of March. What is being fertilized/conceptualized at this time for you? Thursday, the Sun conjunct Neptune; the fog machine is turn on high as we slip between fantasy, irrational fears, and wishful thinking. Neptune dissolves the shapes and boundaries of hard materialism. Is it all there is to reality? Or is something bigger at work here? Neptune gives a desire for transcendence; it makes us want to believe that there is more than meet the eyes. Neptune is the muse or the ghost. Neptune at its worst can turn the anxiety on high as we feel riddled with ungraspable fears, something just beyond our conscious awareness. Pisces season can also be a time of empathy, compassion, confusion or sadness as we can feel more vividly the pain of the world. A good season for generosity and compassion.

On a mundane level, ”fake news” will surely be a big thing this month so be careful about the information you ingest and be discerning! When possible, it’s a good time to tune out and practice meditation, mindfulness or simply go out in nature to bring you back to centre.

The New Moon in Virgo comes to us on the threshold of the Fall Equinox here in the Northern Hemisphere. The beginning of this lunar cycle finds us in the liminal space between the brightness of summer and its imminent decay.

Two days after the New Moon on September 22nd, at 16:02 EDT, the Sun enters the sign of Libra and signals the beginning of Autumn.

ENDINGS & HEALINGS

The New Moon is often associated with the beginning of a monthly cycle and renewed vigor for the month ahead. Since this New Moon takes place in the last degrees of Virgo just 2 days before the Fall Equinox, she carries with her an air of finality and closure as oppose to new beginnings.

It is within the current endings that we will find the new beginnings taking shape. Something is being composted into a nourishing and fertilizing soil. However, we must appreciate this process fully and bid farewell to past fantasies and bewildering ideas that keeps us looking backward. To cross this seasonal threshold, something must be surrendered or given as a token gesture to those ideals and fantasies. It is in this paradoxical abandon that we shall receive the necessary healing for the next part of the journey and the accomplishment of our future goals.

OPEN WOUNDS

Under this New Moon in Virgo our wounds will take an incandescent glow calling to our attention what can’t be ignored any longer. The surfacing of these wounds could make us feel vulnerable but it will allow us to apply the necessary medicine. The pain which usually lies dormant under the surface of our skin will rise up and give us a clear indication of what must be healed. The remedies could be a bewildering blend of intuitive visions and practical applications. The most difficult task will be to rid ourselves of the intangible poisons and parasites.

Mercury, ruler of Virgo, presides over this New Moon and will be in exact opposition to Neptune at the time of the New Moon. Mercury began its retrograde motion on August 12 – in this exact part of the zodiac and opposing Neptune.

The train we have been riding since last month had Neptune coloured windows. When Neptune is involved, facts and fiction blend together creating a confusing cocktail of wishful thinking and unrealistic expectations. Under Neptune, we are intoxicated by an ideal and susceptible to delusion. At its best, Neptune gives a romantic tone to the object of desire, making us see what we want a see. Hopefully, the Sun in Virgo has helped us discriminate between what is achievable and what was mere fantasies. Regardless, in the days to come, we should slowly start to gain clarity on our current situation and any confusing scenarios we have been engaging with since the beginning of August will be seen for what they are. The New Moon in Virgo is also in exact opposition to Chiron; once the rose-coloured glasses come off, the truth could be hard to digest and the pain quick to locate. Be easy on yourself.

August is not just the eighth month of the year; it also describes something esteemed or regal. Although we are not quite done with July, the spirited Leo New Moon on July 23rd opens up the Fixed summer season with a bold thrust.

The meaning of the word August and the symbolism of Leo are pretty much interchangeable. The word August means something or someone who is marked by majestic dignity or grandeur. The New Moon takes place on Sunday July 23rd at 0º Leo as we make way for the royal displays of our hearts longing. The New Moon will also be 1º away from Mars who will land its sparks to the fire and ignite individual will.

Meanwhile, Mercury in Leo will be 2 degrees from the North Node or Head of the Dragon and form a grand fire trine with Uranus in Aries and Saturn in Sagittarius. Like a hot air balloon we could find ourselves benefiting from a certain amount of heat and pressure to propel us forward. Necessary planning along with audacity and conviction will be required for the journey ahead.

The upcoming trine between Venus and Pluto will be exact right after the New Moon in Cancer on June 24th. This aspect conjures up the rich scent of the earth exuding from freshly pulled roots. The hands are dirty and have been working hard.

On a table laying in broad day light is a collection of various treasures dug out of the ground; buried objects carrying with them long forgotten stories. To keep or to discard?

Destruction and beauty are an odd pair. 

Craving more ease, you might get excited at the sight of the decaying past – hypnotized by the promises and possibilities of new beginnings. Suddenly the forbidden becomes alluring; desiring something that is denied to you.  Can it be yours? 

Be warned that the price is steeped but it’s already too late.

What was unearthed is taking hold.

The distant lure of beauty animates you and you keep digging in the hopes of finding more.

The process is difficult but you cannot back down. You know how important this is for your well-being. Feeling good might even sting a little but you keep digging. The sight of beauty hurts your eyes. Your heart is pounding in your chest.

Renovations are well underway and you must get rid of some things to make space for what you have discovered.

Introducing more beauty, more love, more pleasure is an arduous task and things will need to be destroyed.

February’s Fire

Hey everyone,

We’re almost done with January which has been a good example of what is to come. We also have entered the Chinese Year of the Fire Rooster. Even if the Chinese Zodiac has nothing to do with the Tropical Zodiac (the one we use) there is one thing in common for 2017 and that is: there is a LOT of planets in FIRE signs all year.

Uranus is in Aries and Saturn in Sagittarius plus we have an upcoming Venus retrograde (beginning March 4) in the sign of Aries.

There is also a series of eclipses on the Leo/Aquarius axis beginning this month with the Full Moon in Leo (a Fire sign) on February 10. Eclipses generally comes in sets of 4 over the course of the year.

So what does it mean? Well, If you have important planets in the late degrees of the Fixed signs (Scorpio, Taurus, Aquarius, Leo) this year eclipses will highlight that part of your chart.
Eclipses in astrology are considered triggers that brings fundamental changes. These changes can be sudden or they can be more of a gradual shift towards something completely new over a period of time. Of course it’s easier to pinpoint the area affected by studying the natal chart.

The New Moon in Pisces at the end of February is also a Solar eclipse and it is the last one in the Pisces/Virgo series that has happened over the course of the last 2 years. There was a lot of changes for these guys (Virgo and Pisces) and an evolution towards something that is either being born now or on the last stretch of its journey.

The Sun is in Aquarius and will move into the water sign of Pisces on February 18.

Saturn in Sagittarius (a fire sign) continues to fuel dogmatic beliefs and wars on ideologies and Jupiter goes retrograde later this month which will bring the second Jupiter/Uranus opposition.

Mars in Aries (fire sign) all month is excellent for pushing ahead with your own ideas and
projects. If you feel tense, go sweat it out.
