NEW MOON IN LIBRA: A TENSE EQUILIBRIUM

The New Moon in Libra occurs on October 19 at 15:13 EDT in the very last degrees of the Scales just a few days before the Sun’s ingress into Scorpio.

THE TIPPING POINT

The New Moon at 26º Libra will be in a tight opposition to rebel planet Uranus which is at 26º Aries. Uranus is often associated with sudden breakthroughs and shocks that serves to jolt us out of complacency. Uranus in Aries is like an untamed, wild and defiant teenager who will do exactly the opposite of what you ask him to do. Uranus in the sign of Aries doesn’t have patience for conventions and niceties; it forges ahead without foresight straight into the eye of the storm to challenge the Gods. Uranus is that voice that says: ”just go for it, try it and see what happens”. Acting on impulse, following a crazy idea, a revelation that brings a revolution, it’s the lightning that strikes the genius and the mad ones. It’s that impetuous urge to move against the docile heard to find a new direction, a new way of doing things; a different way.

Then, we have this New Moon in Libra which is all about fairness and compromises or at least finding the balance between ”what you want” and ”what I want”. Venus just entered the sign of Libra on October 14 and is at home here. Venus rules over the New Moon and accentuates the  themes of partnerships and agreements. The focus is on finding a peaceful way to remediate the disequilibrium we might be experiencing in our lives. The desire for collaboration is strong, we want to get along and both parties are looking for ways to reconcile their difference. The idea of harmony and balance is held high like a precious gem that seems to be just out of reach. We stretch our arms towards it, trying to catch its rare glow only to find a molten piece of poisonous  lead.

This New Moon points its finger directly at what is out of synch an unbalance in our lives. It’s the trigger that urges us to find new and better ways to deal with it. We could feel a sense of urgency in regards to establishing some form of harmony that would rectify the chaos and disorder. Partnership are especially susceptible to this at the moment as we weigh the pros and cons of our agreements. The grass always seems greener somewhere else and Libra loves to keep her options open. Uranus opposing the Sun and Moon in Libra could bring a sudden desire to break free from something that feels too restrictive. With the Sun, the Moon and Venus in Libra we must bow down to our current agreements and fulfill our part of the contract. Even though peace seems to be a complicated and elusive notion at this time it must remain a guiding ideal.

It is in this paradoxical landscape that this new lunar cycle begins. We will soon enter the Fixed season of Scorpio and descend even further into our commitments but also the decisions we make towards transformation. Now is the time to use the power of reason to decide what we want so that our attention and focus can be well directed for the month ahead.

The Just Measure

A Full Moon in Libra and partial lunar eclipse happened yesterday in the early hours close to the North Node of the Moon sometime called the head of the Dragon.

Eclipses will vary in intensity depending on many factors including whether it is a total or partial, Lunar or Solar eclipse and if it takes place close to the South Node (Tail of the Dragon) or the North Node (Head of the Dragon).

They usually come in pairs and we had a Solar eclipse in Pisces on March 8th and one yesterday March 23rd in the sign of Libra.

Some astrologers compare eclipses or the time in between them as having similar effect as the more widely known Mercury retrograde. Unexpected events, delays, misunderstanding or problems with technologies can be one of the symptoms.  An eclipse represent a time when one of our two major luminaries (Sun or Moon) is being obscured either by the shadow of the Moon in the case of a Solar eclipse or the shadow of the Earth in the case of a Lunar eclipse. This temporary darkness is an opening, an energetic trigger for things to come into existence or disappear into the void.  Shadows are associated with what we cannot see, blindness or a lack of something. While something is being obscured, it is also an opening into the deep and eternal darkness. This time can be very energizing for some while others can feel extremely drained, stressed out and tired.

Eclipse will also affect people differently depending on where it falls in their natal birth chart.  Positive or negative effects like the birth of a child, a marriage, sickness, a major turning point, ending and beginnings are associated with eclipses.

The temporary obstruction of the light sees the darkness that dwells in between the worlds take shape and materialize. This blackness colours our awareness for a moment and can bring about surprising turn of events.

Yesterday’s eclipse in Libra is the last one of a series on the Libra-Aries axis that started in 2014.

This eclipse highlights themes of interpersonal and personal relationships and the need to find balance between taking and giving. We can feel torn between selfish or bold reactions versus selfless compromises to reach middle ground. There is an emphasis on whether the motives behind our decisions are ego driven of based in the higher spirits of fairness and harmony.

This is definitely not an easy feat.

We could be torn between the need to follow our own path while also being asked to collaborate or compromise. We cannot exclude the need we have for others in our lives, our need to be seen and acknowledged. Every relationship is a mixture of give and take with a small dose of compromises and a big dose of collaboration.  Problem arises when we compromise our own integrity.

This last eclipse in Libra could be the final push towards solidifying an alliance, a situation, a state of mind or letting it go all together and realigning towards a more balance and centered state. A process that started in 2014 could find resolution but whether this will be fair and just could be a matter of circumstances. We could see ourselves oscillating between two opposites for another few weeks until we find the just measure.

Lilith

In astrology the Black Moon is calculated from several factors. The main factor being the lunar apogee or the spot where the Moon reaches its maximum distance from the Earth. (Please note that there are several different point used in astrology to identify Lilith but I am focused on BML for this piece.

Through history, Lilith has been depicted as a hostile creature, a devourer of children. First wife of Adam in The Alphabet of Ben Sira and a hostile demon according to The Zohar. Lilith was a foreign spirit, and intruder and charms were made to ward her off. Lilith was sometime depicted as a nocturnal seductress or spirit that steal man’s semen during the night to create her demon babies. (We can imagine where those myths came from).

Some researched work from Jewish feminists urges us to re-examine Lilith’s depiction surrounding Lilith’s character as a demoness, claiming that it originated from the same source that satirically dealt with flatulence, incest, and masturbation. (2)

For centuries, Lilith cropped up in art and literature as the archetypal rebellious woman. Although her character changed over time, one thing that stayed the same was her hair, which is always described as long, unkempt and messy. This is significant because of the way that hair has long been tied to the history of gender roles and representations of women. (3)

In astrology, she is interpreted as the instinctual side that is often pushed to the darkest corners of our psyche as something too wild, too raw, too sexual, too angry and uncontrollable for society. Modern astrological interpretations of Lilith are connected to the expression of the long repression of female sexuality by the established patriarchy. So of course Lilith is angry.

According to Juan Antonio Revilla, Black Moon Lilith takes hold of our emotions. It is a reactive point, never a point of integration. As such, it can cause strong identifications or very powerful projections of unconscious emotions which may not be recognized as such. His thoughts on it is that it always works at a reactive level.

“The Black Moon is an isolated point, a point of neglect, repression, fermentation, and “magical” transformations that belong to a phantasmal, nocturnal, and instinctive/erotic world. It contains all the more instinctual energies (including the atavistic wisdom and clairvoyance, which is dependent on bodily functions) deep within the psyche, of which sexuality is of course paramount, and which manifest themselves in fairy tales and in primitive lunar symbolism: the night, the mystery, the magic, the danger, the secret, the fear, that which is forbidden.”

Lilith, is often too much for the delicate hearts. A person with a strong Lilith signature awakens something dark and sexual or even violent in other people. They can represent what others try to hide. It can be related to sexuality and power or it can be the animal within, the instinctual side  that we repress so that we can function in society.  Hiding and wounded, our instinct lurks in the shadow waiting to be fed raw or primal experiences. The Lilith person disturbs because, like the animal, it doesn’t follow conventions and doesn’t try to get along, which is not always great for networking. That is why, Lilith tends to be reclusive, staying away from the danger of getting tamed. The need to exercise freewill is stronger than the need to be included. She will not be controlled or managed into submission.

Because Lilith is a reactive point, she is not something that can be rationalised. That part of yourself/society is experienced directly through the instinct. It cannot be thought through logically. Lilith doesn’t want to be defined and she doesn’t want to adhere to the social mores.  When compromising turns sour or when the hurt feelings festering in the dark start smelling too strong we are entering Lilith’s territory.

Aries New Moon, April 18, 2015

Happy New Moon in Aries!

The problem with being polite and considerate of others opinion is that it can eventually lead you away from your goal. Do not confuse the dreams of others for your own. Even a well-intentioned advice from a friend could be totally wrong for you.

Sometimes you just have to ignore the opinions, the advice, the pros and cons, the incessant wavering and just GO FOR IT.

How can you create the life that you want if you constantly vacillate
between the would, should and could, of other people’s perspectives?

Your life is: your path, your dream, your creation and your vision.

Sometime you just have to let the world be, and do your own thing.

Sometime you just have to say fuck off, and get on with it.

Lots of love to you all

Full Love

On Saturday, there is a Full Moon-Lunar Eclipse in the sign of Libra. Relationships are on the radar but the Libra-Aries axis speaks not only of ”me” versus ”you” or ”us”, it also speaks of the relationship to ourselves. Balancing the scales also means taking the time to enter fully in a relationship to ourselves. To be loving, caring and generous within a relationship, one has to know how to give it to themselves. And from that starting point, shine it outwards. Once you have understood that principle, no one can ever take love away from you. Love originates from the center of your being and not as something outside of yourself. It is the starting point.

I leave you with a poem that Mystic Medusa shared this morning on her Facebook page:

The time will come
when, with elation,
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror,
and each will smile at the other’s welcome
and say, sit here. Eat. You will love again the stranger who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you
all your life, whom you have ignored
for another, who knows you by heart.
Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,
the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life.

The Moon just entered the sign of Scorpio for the next 2 days.
Venus, Mars and Uranus are in Aries (the warrior) and we are approaching the last of the Uranus-Pluto squares.

For more on the square see here: http://www.forrestastrology.com/n…/470-march-2015-newsletter

This is no astrology for the faint of heart. I’m going to keep it real simple for you. You can take the high road and remain calm, cool and detach from the various scenarios that are showing up in your life. Like a Zen warrior : strong and gentle, focused and detach as you stay on the task at hand.

Or well, you can decide to go through the sewers but don’t excpect to stay clean.
Finding a productive outlet might be your best bet if you don’t want to get dragged down there.

Peace

Libra Luna

zodiac_sign__libra_by_yuhon-d38mt66
The Moon is in Libra applying to conjunct the North Node which represents a point of learning for us collectively. While there is so much going on in the opposite side of Aries at the moment with Venus-Mars-Uranus and the South Node pushing to be acknowledge and the impulse to be recognized as a unique individual, there is also the need to recognize how we can progress by teaming up with others.
Everyone has it’s own gifts but when we come together, ask for help, acknowledge others, considering new points of view we can actually progress faster. Finding the middle ground between your needs and what others need or want from you could come up this weekend.
We can think of Aries as the law of the jungle which is an expression that means ”every man for himself”. A necessary process for survival.
The opposite sign of Libra could be the image of John Lennon and Yoko Ono singing: ”Give peace a chance”.
In the first decan of Libra which is ruled by the Moon, we meet the courtesans, diplomats and artists of the zodiacs. Here Justice emerges, cutting through the subjective or selfish motives. It is the begining of social order and the building of societies through fair ethical judgments and laws.
So this weekend, with the Moon in Libra, we can play with images of US versus OTHERS.
♈When should I follow my own agenda in a (good for me) selfish way?
♎When is it ok to voice my discontent in a collaboration?
♎Where in my life am I giving up on myself to keep the peace?
♈Would I benefit by partnering up with someone or asking for help?
♎What does the word relationship means to me?
